Ghost Mason Jars

Here's a fun way to add some ghostly light to your Halloween decorations - ghost mason jars! I had a lot of fun making them and I love how they turned out. Here's how to make them.

First, follow Heidi's step by step instructions on how to paint your mason jars. These are great directions! I painted my jars white for ghosts. But, you could paint your jars orange and make pumpkins out of them.

Next, after your jars are painted, find templates for your ghosts. I just searched online for "ghost faces" and found a bunch of patterns. Once your patterns are cut out, carefully trace your faces onto your jars. Of course, trace your ghost faces on the side of the jar without writing.

Then, carefully paint your faces. I think this is the hardest part of the whole project, but well worth it. Just look at these cute ghosts!

Once the black paint has dried, spray your jars with your clear sealer. Again, refer to Heidi's instructions. I didn't sand my jars, but you most certainly can.

When the sealer was dry, I tied on some ribbon before placing my ghosts on my front porch. I wanted them to help light up our entry way and loved sprinkling them among the pumpkins and hay bales. You could also use your jars as table centerpieces.

I placed LED candles in the jars. I couldn't believe how bright they are in the night sky. My kids and I ran a quick errand tonight and when we turned onto our street, we could see our ghosts shining bright a few houses away. I had the thought that you could make more of these jars to line a walk way or steps. They're really fun and festive! Happy Halloween! Oh, and don't forget to enter our giveaway :)
