Last year after Thanksgiving dinner, my mom gathered all the grandchildren around the kitchen table and taught them how to make acorn chocolates. It was such a yummy, sweet activity! The grandkids loved them as well as the adults. Afterwards, I knew we'd found another Fall tradition!
These acorns are so simple to make. You'll need: Hershey's chocolate kisses, Nutter Butter sandwich cookies, chocolate chips, and frosting or icing to act as the "glue."
First, using your icing or frosting, "glue" your Hershey kiss to the Nutter Butter cookie. Let stand for a few minutes to stiffen a bit.
Then, "glue" your chocolate chip on the other side of the Nutter Butter cookie. I then like to place my acorns in the fridge for about an hour to harden. This helps the acorns keep their shape. Or, you can eat them right away! (That's what we did last year.) It is such an easy treat for kids to make that it would be the perfect addition to a Halloween or Thanksgiving party. Or, you can enjoy them one day after school for a special snack. That's what my kids and I did this week. It's always fun to celebrate the season! Have fun!
