Grinch Cookies with Printable Gift Tag

All the Whos down in Whoville....

were munching and crunching on Grinch cookies....

Celebrate the season with a cookie to remind us how
"the Grinch's heart grew 3 sizes" on the day he realized what Christmas is all about!

You'll need:
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup butter, softened

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
5 drops green food coloring
plus 1/4 cup sugar save for rolling dough balls
candy hearts

In one bowl mix the eggs, sugar, vanilla and food coloring.
Put at least 5 drops, you want it to be dark green because it will lighten up when the dry ingredients are added.
In another bowl mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and butter with a pastry cutter.

Then pour the sugar mixture into the flour mixture.
Stir with a spoon and then by hand, knead into a dough.

Preheat oven to 365˚.
Roll dough into balls and then roll into 1/4 cup sugar.

Place balls on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes,
or until they get slightly brown.

Get your candy hearts ready.
I found these at Michaels.

As soon as your cookies come out of the oven
press a heart in the center.

These are so fun!
Make a night of it and while you have some cookies and milk,
watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas the original classic version of course or read the storybook.

These cookies are the perfect treat for a friend or neighbor.

Bag them up and tie with some red/green bakers twine

And one of our GRINCH tags
with two classic quotes from the story.

Print your tags {here}

And print the cookie recipe {here}

...and the Grinch's heart grew 3 sizes that day.
