Pantry Apron Hook

We are so loving our organized pantry make-over!
Part of that organization was a new hook for our aprons.
I tend to collect aprons,
but the collection was getting too massive.
I sorted through and got it down to a few that we use on a regular basis.
So on the wall just inside the pantry door,
I added a simple apron hook.

I just went to the local hobby store and found this pretty porcelain knob
and routed out little wood plaque.

I painted it with Americana Snow White acrylic paint.
and sanded the edges.

To put together the hook,
drill a hole where you want the knob to sit on the wood.
I went with a little above center.

In the same hole on the back,
drill a counter sink hole. (this is a larger hole sunk down in the wood)
(you'll have to get a different bit made to counter sink for this but it should attach right into your electric drill)

Your knob should come with a bolt.
Push this into the back hole.
The screw your knob comes with will most likely be too long,
and stick way out of the back of the wood piece when you screw on the knob.
When attaching the knob, you want the end of the screw to be flush with the back of the wood or shorter.
I just went to the hardware store an bought a shorter screw that would work.

Screw on the knob.
Love the look of this.
That powder blue knob is the best!

I marked with a pencil where the top of the knob went into the wood.
Take the knob off for a minute and drill another hole just above that marking.
You're going to need this to attach the wood plaque to the wall .

Put your knob back on.
On the wall you either want to screw this hook into a stud or use a drywall anchor
to attach it for stability and to hold weight.

You don't even notice that anchoring screw.
(especially with the aprons on)

Totally love this little hook!
