I love vintage Christmas images
from old post cards, posters or photos.
Using them for crafting projects, gifts or in your decor is special.
And candles during the holidays make things extra magical.
These tall candles you might see around that are sometimes used for religious purposes,
They are cheap, unscented and tall,
they look amazing tucked in a garland along a long table
or on a buffet table or on a stand
or coffee table with holiday decor.
They are the perfect little gift too!
This year I'm making the candles for friends and neighbors for the holidays.
My favorite site for finding free vintage images is {here}
I decided to use some nativity, Santa and angles.
Copy and paste the image into a Microsoft Word or Publisher document
and stretch it to a long rectangle size for your candle.
Print on regular paper and cut out.
I love my little sticker maker.
You manually turn the side knob to run your image through, and it creates a sticker.
Place the sticker on the candle.
Press the center first and then press towards each side.
You can even cover any price tag that might be on the candle.
(so you don't have to bother removing the price tag if it doesn't come off easily.)
You can buy the candles in colors too.
Have fun with colors and images.
Since I'm giving them as gifts,
we've got to bag them up cute.
My cello bags measure 4.5"x18"
{these} bags are close in size.
Place some paper crinkle {here} in the bottom of the bag.
Add our candle and tie with festive ribbon.
I'm using a Martha Stewart brand wide gold glitter ribbon.
Love it because the glitter doesn't come off the ribbon and get everywhere.
I picked it up at Home Goods.
This ribbon may be similar {here}
And I'm adding this Noel ribbon with gold star- love it!
Tips for tying ribbon with wording.
To have the words facing you on ribbon ends that hangs down from the knot:
Wrap the ribbon upside down around the bag and tie.
Adding a little tag with this 1/8" gold ribbon.
I found a quote about light from this talk.
Printed it off on white card stock and mounted on decorative scrapbook paper.
Punch a hole at the top and add your thin ribbon making sure to leave the ends long.
Tie your tag so it hangs in the back with the quote facing out from the candle.
Let the long ends of your thin ribbon hang in the front with the other wider ribbons.
So cute.
Packaged and ready to be delivered.
My friends have loved receiving this gift!
You could use the same idea for other holidays with different vintage images.
I'm already thinking a red candle with a vintage valentine would be fun!
Get creative ;)
Merry Christmas!
