How to Paint a Lettered Sign for Easter

Remember that song when you were a kid,
"here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail.."
Brings back fun memories and was the inspiration for this sign.

Supplies you'll need:
pine board 1x 9 x16"
2 colors craft acrylic paint
white spray paint
vinyl letters or sticker letters
(for frame)
1/4" x 1 1/2" x 4'
nails, hammer, strong adhesive glue
wood stain

Start out by designing your wording on a vinyl cutting machine.
You can also use sticker letters, will take a little longer but is an option.
Paint the top of your board with the color you want your letters to be.
I wanted mine gray, so I'm using Dark Grey by Craft Smart acrylic craft paint.
With the weeded vinyl still attached to contact paper and backing,
lay that on the board and measure where the word Easter will fall.
(If using sticker letters, start to put down the words, stopping at Easter.)
Paint that section of the board with a second color.
I'm using Sea Breeze by Americana.
Then lay down your vinyl (or finish placing sticker letters)
Always make sure your paint is completely dry before adding the lettering.
I'm using pink vinyl so you can see it and
it is covering the color that I want those words to appear in.

Spray paint your board white.
Take your time and spray in layers.
The white will cover everything.

After it dries, peal off your letters.

Beautiful! It looks like you have vinyl on the board,
but it's painted lettering!
I took some sand paper and distressed the edges a little.

So, so loving this board!
You can  leave it just as is.

Or frame it.
I'm using a thin 1/4 thick trim,
that I cut and stained a couple says before so it would be dry and ready to use.
You can find all the directions on how to build the frame {here}

This sign is so fun!
I've collected a few bunnies over the years
and this sign will be perfect right next to them.

Maybe Peter Cottontail will stop by at your house!
