Last week when I picked up some of these
adorable mini potted mums to give away,
I bought a few extra to keep at home.
I love using mason jars and knew I had to combine the two.
Mason jars & mums.
So cute and fun for indoors.
I was out in my garage and noticed some old fence boards against the wall.
Inspiration struck, why not make a rustic box to display these jars!
Similar to our milk bottle box and mason jar caddy,
I wanted this one to be more of a rustic old box.
I think perfect for Fall.
The cedar fence board I'm using is 5 1/2" wide and come in a 6 ft. length.
You'll need to cut 3 pieces at 12 inches
and 2 pieces at 6 1/2 inches.
After you cut, do a little sanding.
This wood is rough.
I had to get off the splinters but didn't make it too smooth,
so it could keep its rugged appeal.
Nail your long pieces in place first,
then add the sides.
I always like to use a little wood or Gorilla glue along with the nails.
It's easier to nail your middle nail in first and then the sides.
Now you could stain it.
I kind of liked the raw, natural wood.
Just add your jars.
So many places in your home that you could display these.
Right now they are on an old trunk
that we use as a coffee table in the living room.
I think I've got some more ideas for this little box.
Stay tuned!
I love your rustic box. This will get a lot of use for all of the seasons.
