Quilt Block of the Month

 A few years back, way back,

I was part of a quilt block of the month club.

Unfortunately, the group disbanded

after 2 months when the group leader moved.

I've made a few small basic lap quilts since then

with precut squares or jelly rolls,

but have always wanted to learn a few classic

quilt block patterns.

2023 is our year gang!

Join me for a quilt block of the month!

We are going to start out easy with the basics.

Some supplies you'll need:
sewing machine {good beginner machine}
1/4 yard of 2-4 different fabrics
thread
scissors
rotary cutter {here}
see through ruler {here}
cutting mat with inch square measurements {here}
iron/ironing board

I thought it would be fun to use fabrics relating to each month.
So it's snowmen for me!
Choose the fabrics and colors you like- that's what makes each quilt unique!
Our January square is a basic FOUR SQUARE.
Choose 2-4 different fabrics.
You'll need just 1/4 of a yard of each.
Iron out any wrinkles in the fabric.
Cut 4 squares that measure
4 1/4" x 4 1/4"

Lay out your squares in the pattern you want.
Sew the top 2 squares together and then the bottom 2.

  Flip over and iron the seams to one side.

Next, sew the top piece to the bottom piece.

Turn it over to iron the seams and flip to iron the front.
You did it!
One block done!
