Gratitude Lesson

November is the month of gratitude. (I absolutely love Heidi's gratitude printable.) Recently, our family had a discussion about what gratitude looks like. It is so easy to say "be grateful" or "be thankful," but to a child, they need to know what that really means. What does it look like when you are showing gratitude? How do you act when you are thankful? Our family came up with the following ways gratitude is expressed.

To help our family remember how to show gratitude, I printed off our ideas onto scrapbook paper. I then cut out the phrases into leaf shapes using a leaf template I found online. And, to make sure we really remember how to show gratitude this month, I made a banner out of the leaves using twine and clothespins. I hung it up in our kitchen. Now, my kids really won't forget :)

So, have a discussion about gratitude. Help your family understand what this word means and how to show it. Also, here is a video that would make a great addition to your family's gratitude lesson.
