Painted Mason Jars

I love mason jars.
Painted jars are so fun and can give you just the right color and look for your table.
They're easy to put together yourself.

First you need some jars and rubbing alcohol. The key to helping the paint stick to the glass, is to have a really clean jar.  Wash and dry your jar.  Then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and let it dry completely.

You'll need craft acrylic paint and a paint spray sealer. I like the Krylon flat clear sealer.
These jars are for my daughter's birthday party and the colors she picked were white, pink and gold.

Step two, give your jar one coat of paint. Let this dry for about 30 minutes and then give it a second coat.
I did this for the white and pink jars.
The gold metallic paint I used was pretty thin, so I painted this jar with one coat of white and then 4 coats of the gold.

Next is the hard part---let them dry over night.  If you try to sand them now, too much paint will come off.  The next morning, take some sandpaper, sand and distress the areas you want.
Around the rim, across the lettering and a few other random spots on the sides.

Wipe off any paint dust and spray the jars with your clear sealer. Let them dry.

They look awesome!

Now fill with your favorite flowers.
These beauties are ready for the party table centerpiece!
